Pre-production is the phase that precedes the shooting:
It includes THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE IDEA; the Director who is entrusted with the project takes care of the preparation of a creative idea that is compatible with your goals.
The pre-production is the real preparation of the film. Once the idea of the film has been developed, the development phase has been completed, with a script ready (either from a subject or written specifically for the film) and once the key people are identified, mainly the artistic cast of the film and above all, the funds gathered, we move on to the pre-production phase at the end of which the shooting will start.
Essentially, pre-production consists of the following phases ---
The writing of the script and / or storyboard: from the basic idea the video is defined in detail. At this stage, the attention to detail is increased so that the video matches your expectations.
Spec Script (identification of the individual scenes)
• Recording or selection of the Soundtrack;
• Casting (including extras, stuntmen, stunts)
• Location Scouting: for some projects it is necessary to allocate a budget for the use of exclusive locations, photographic studios or green screen sessions.
• Storyboard
• Inspections and construction of the set: essential for ensuring the best lighting conditions and for the set to be equipped with everything necessary.
Also during this phase the sound designers provide, if needed, to gather the sounds for the scenes in which it is not possible to have a field recording (eg explosions, car accidents, sinking ships ...).
